Pupil Premium Statement
What is Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium was introduced by the Department for Education (DfE) in 2011, as specific, additional funding for pupil who receive Free School Meals (FSM), those who are Looked After Children (LAC) and those from service families. This is because the DfE have recognised that good education is the key to improving young people’s life chances. This is particularly true for children from low-income families who are far less likely to leave school with good GCSE results than other children.
The Pupil Premium is an additional resource to the school’s budget and it is intended that it is used for pupils who need it most to address current inequalities. The DfE have agreed that it is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent, as it is agreed that they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils. However, they are accountable for their use of this funding.

Liss Infant and Junior Schools are situated in the semi-rural village of Liss in East Hampshire, close to the West Sussex border.
How is Pupil Premium used at Liss Infant and Junior Schools?
At Liss Infant and Junior Schools, we continue to invest in evidence-based programmes to close the gap in learning, with the funds being used to provide One-to-One intervention for English, mathematics and phonics. We also run additional English and maths intervention and support groups as well as pastoral support.
